Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic
"Where smart pets take their people."
Dr Daniel Iyer was born and raised right here in South Carolina. After practicing for nine years in Atlanta, specializing in small animal medicine, he helped start Buckwalter Veterinary Hospital in 2012 and became sole owner in 2019. He has always had a passion and deep love for all living creatures, which evolved into his pursuance of a veterinary career.
In addition to playing soccer and running track all through school, Dr. Iyer studied the double bass and played in the local symphony. He chose the University of Georgia not only for its excellent vet school but to further study music with a famed professor who taught there. He completed his undergraduate degree in microbiology and music performance in 2001, graduating magna cum laude with honors, and was accepted into the University of Georgia Veterinary Program, graduating in 2005. He completed additional training in Beverly Hills, California, with the distinguished veterinary cardiologist, Dr. Stephen Ettinger. Dr. Iyer is versed in echo cardiograms and routine ultrasounds. Besides his strength in general surgery, his other particular interests and expertise reside in orthopedics, especially cranial cruciate (ACL) and patellar reconstruction procedures.
Currently he resides in Savannah, Georgia, with his wife and three daughters. He has 2 dogs, Linus (which you might know better than Dr Iyer, as he roams the halls of the clinic) and Chance. Dr Iyer enjoys outdoor activities, including mountain biking, skiing, and watching the Dawgs pursue another national title. He loves practicing in Bluffton and looks forward to growing with the city for many years to come.
“I love doing what I do because animals can’t fend for themselves. We are there to help the animals. People can take care of themselves, animals need that extra boost”.Daniel Iyer
